The Yamaha clarinet

The Yamaha clarinet is favored by many clarinet players, from the beginner student to many professionals playing in symphony orchestras today. Providing a range of clarinets, from soprano to bass models, across a range of budgets, a clarinet from Yamaha can be a very good investment.

Clarinets from Yamaha come in a number of different materials. The standard line, with includes B flat and bass clarinets come with a resin body, as does the intermediate line of B flat instruments. The other models – custom and professional – are clarinets with Grenadilla wood bodies.

The range of clarinets include E flat, B flat, A, E flat Alto and bass models. Unlike many other manufacturers, Yamaha offers a range of ‘German’ style clarinets which include not only Oehler system models, but also a German Boehm system clarinet in B flat, which has a Boehm fingering system combined with a traditional German bore size and shape. Yamaha also produces a line of accessories for the clarinet, including cleaning supplies, mouthpieces and cases.

While not one of the ‘traditional’ names in clarinets, Yamaha instruments have become the clarinet of choice for many professional players. Along with its high levels of quality of manufacture and the extensive range of models available, another advantage of buying a clarinet made by Yamaha is that accessories and spare parts are widely available, and most repairers are familiar with these instruments if you do ever need your clarinet repaired.
